Welcome to the Christmas edition of the Bondor Bulletin. It has been a very busy second half of the year for the company.

The year in review
2019 was a very busy year for the Bondor Metecno Group. One of the first milestones for the year came when the National Construction Code (NCC) called up the new Australian Standard AS5113:2016 Fire Propagation for Exterior Walls, which came into effect from March 2018.

Our MetecnoKasset® façade system passed ALL of AS 5113’s stringent criteria including falling debris and we remain the only insulated panel system to have tested and passed all aspects of AS 5113.

Our Metecno PIR business continues to grow and is certainly justifying the investment in the state-of-the-art factory in Melbourne which has now completed its first full year of production. Roofing, particularly Econoclad® is performing well and has been well received as a cost-effective alternative roofing solution.

In May, the launch of the revolutionary new LuxeWall® FlameGuard® boundary wall system was received well by the residential, multi-residential and commercial markets as an alternative solution with projects sold and specified in 2018 proving real potential in the market. Bondor continues to lead the market with innovation and new building systems.

In June 2018, the Bondor Metecno Group acquired the manufacturing facilities and the patio and deck roofing products for Shademaster Shelter Systems from Hunter Douglas in NSW. We now have a strengthened offering in NSW combining Shademaster with our SolarSpan®, LuxeWall® and DesignerWall® brands.

Bondor Queensland has had a big year across all parts of the business, crowned by involvement in the construction of Hilton Foods food distribution facility in Brisbane, where they installed 60,000m2 of Metecno PIR.

Victoria developed opportunities for LuxeWall® and DesignerWall® and are looking forward to moving to a new purpose-built facility in the new year.

Tasmania has performed well particularly in the agricultural sector whilst the WA and SA markets showed promise for our range of roofing products.

National Construction Code (NCC) 2019 changes
The new National Construction Code (NCC) will be launched in 2019.

There has been a lot of debate around aspects of the code and some proposed changes, particularly related to fire standards. We have been actively involved in presenting the case for our products to the Australian Building Codes Board, State Governments and other interested parties over the past eight months.

These representations have been well received and we are satisfied that the proposed changes to the code will enable our products to compete fairly on their merits for the next three years.

Australian Institute of Architects
As part of our commitment to industry education, we conducted an important seminar series for the Australian Institute of Architects on conforming building products that involved a well credentialed industry expert and our Technical Services Manager, Homeira Aryanpad. Over 500 architects attended this series.

In conjunction with this we launched our Bondor Cladding Selector an online guide to assist architects and specifiers to choose the right product so they can conform to the NCC.

Looking forward to 2019
The future for Bondor Metecno is very exciting. Our new products DesignerWall®, LuxeWall® SecureLap® and MetecnoInspire® are making strong market inroads. We now have a diverse range of products suitable for commercial, residential, architectural and cold chain applications with more new products to come over the next 18 months. We look forward to the addition of the new Bondor site in Melbourne which will add to our range, capacity and service offer.

We will continue to invest in the business to ensure we can continue to provide the widest range of insulated panel products in Australasia and strive to improve our service to our customers.

Thank you and Merry Christmas
I’d like to thank you for your business this year. In a market filled with so many choices, we thank you for choosing us.
