Commercial Roofing Selection Process and Lapping System Options

Program Overview
There are many often competing factors to consider when choosing a roof system: structural requirement, fire standards, weatherability and thermal performance. This seminar will provide you with technical understanding to assist you in finding the best product solution required in today’s construction projects. The presentation will also assist in understanding the major issues that arise with end lapping roof panels and the impact it has on the longevity and maintenance of the building.

Learning Outcomes
- Critical issues for consideration when assessing commercial roofing options and the risks of inappropriate placement of roof penetrations.
- Identify the differences between panel and single skin roof systems
- How to apply knowledge of different systems and project-specific considerations to make appropriate roofing system selections
- Identify the opportunities provided by matching structural steel placement and roof panel span performance
- Outline the difference between expansion joint steps and end lapping and how new systems overcome the risks of end lapping
Attendees will be will be accredited with 1 formal Refuel CPD point and an AIA competency certificate upon successfully completing the assessment.

Andrew Hudson
Andrew is a construction industry professional with 25 years’ experience across a variety of functional construction materials. For the past 12 years, Andrew has represented Australia’s largest manufacturer of CodeMark certified Insulated Roof and Wall Panel Systems – Bondor Metecno.
During this time, Andrew has supported the Architectural & Engineering fraternity in achieving their project goals throughout Australia & the South Pacific.
As Bondor Metecno’s National Specification Sales Manager, he leads a professional and enthusiastic Specification Team.
Andrew is a highly regarded industry expert in Fire, Thermal & Acoustic performance across Commercial, Industrial and Residential applications & is focused on good design, energy efficiency and sustainability.
Andrew is also an active supporter of the Australian Institute of Architects and their State Chapters

Andrew Walton
Andrew is a construction industry professional with in excess of 20 years’ experience across a variety of functional, high performance construction materials and in WA/SA represents Australia’s largest manufacturer of CodeMark certified insulated roof and wall panels, Bondor_Metecno.
Throughout this time Andrew has supported thousands of architects and projects across WA/SA and is regarded as an industry expert in areas of thermal performance and sustainability – he has contributed meaningfully to a range of marquee projects including Elizabeth Quays and Burswood Casino.
Andrew is an engaging and knowledgeable presenter, having most recently presented at the highly topical NCC 2022 Proposed Energy Efficiency Changes to both the WA and SA chapters of Housing Industry Association in addition to the hundreds of formal CPD sessions he has delivered.
Andrew is also passionate about supporting the next generation of building designers, and is a regular guest speaker to students at both Curtin University and University of WA as part of the architectural curriculum – Andrew also was instrumental in formalising partnerships with these institutions that has delivered merit awards, providing financial as well as practical support to architectural students.
With a personal background in international sport Andrew understands the power of high performing teams and elite standards that go into preparation, practice and execution. Caroline Bell
Caroline is a construction industry professional with in excess of 20 years’ experience across a variety of functional, high performance construction materials and in QLD represents Australia’s largest manufacturer of CodeMark certified insulated roof and wall panels, Bondor_Metecno.
Throughout this time Caroline has supported thousands of architects and projects across QLD/NT and is particularly passionate about the ever-evolving digital space in design documentation – this is evidenced by her involvement with a number of committees and industry forums including BILT ANZ and BrisBIM. Caroline is passionate about good design and understands the critical link between aesthetics and performance and provides strong support to design practitioners in areas relating to CodeMark, Australian Standards and the NCC.
Caroline matches this technical knowledge with available digital delivery tools as she understands the design professional of today seeks to optimise productivity using the latest technologies. Caroline is a trusted and sought-after design partner due to her knowledge, engaging personality and natural enthusiasm for the entire design to construction process.

Aimie Gers
Aimie has been working in the Architecture and Design industry for over 12 years in VIC and has gained experience and knowledge within various products such as hard and soft floor coverings, acoustics, lighting and now thermal solutions.
Aimie’s specification focus has been within the commercial space working on projects such as multi-res, hospitality, retail, aged care, education and recreational. Mostly working with Architects and Interior Designers but also liaising with builders, developers, contractors and end users facilitating projects from specification to installation.
Aimie has a passion for sustainable and thermal products that can make an impact within your built environment to decrease carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency while maintaining integrity and aesthetics.
Aimie is an accomplished presenter of CPD programs and an in-demand speaker and participant at industry events. Aimie matches her passion for thermally efficient building with an expert knowledge of the National Construction Code to deliver practical solutions that enable design and building professionals to deliver highly functional, sustainable projects without compromising on the creativity element so important to the design community.

Lee Larbalestier
Lee is a construction industry professional with in excess of 10 years’ experience across a variety of functional, high performance construction materials and in NSW/ACT represents Australia’s largest manufacturer of CodeMark certified insulated roof and wall panels, Bondor_Metecno.
Throughout this time Lee has supported hundreds of architects and projects across NSW/ACT and is particularly knowledgeable about fire, condensation and energy efficiency in cladding systems.
Lee is also a regular contributor to industry forums, having presented to Building Designers Association Australia (BDAA) and most recently presented at the highly topical NCC 2022 Proposed Energy Efficiency Changes to both the Sydney and Newcastle chapters of Housing Industry Association. This is in addition to the hundreds of formal CPD sessions she has delivered throughout her career.
Lee is passionate about serving the specification fraternity to ensure that both great design and compliance are achieved on construction projects and enjoys engaging with and supporting practitioners in areas relating to CodeMark, Australian Standards and the NCC. Lee’s natural passion for construction projects is evident in her dealings with all stakeholders and she gains enormous satisfaction from partnering and delivering a project from concept through to occupancy, translating an initial design vision into a practical and buildable solution that doesn’t compromise on the creative elements that designers aspire to.
