Commercial Roofing Selection Process And Lapping System Options
This seminar will provide you with technical understanding to assist you in finding the best product solution required in today’s construction projects. The presentation will also assist in understanding the major issues that arise with end lapping roof panels and the impact it has on the longevity and maintenance of the building.
Design Consideration for Insulated Sandwich Panel
This seminar explores a range of design considerations to achieve optimum results with ISP including; structural, thermal, weatherability and fire properties. It will discuss the differences between ISP and ACP, the properties of different ISP core types and how ISP complies with Australian Standards.
Insulated Sandwich Panel: Composition, BIM & Installation
Participants in this seminar will expand their understanding on Insulated Sandwich Panel (ISP), how the manufacturing processes differ and how this in turn results in different properties for each panel type. This presentation will identify the key quality control measures in this process, the Australian Standards, BIM options with ISP and other controls applicable to the end products.

Commercial Roofing Selection Process and Lapping System Options

1 Formal CPD Point

Program Overview

There are many often competing factors to consider when choosing a roof system: structural requirement, fire standards, weatherability and thermal performance. This seminar will provide you with technical understanding to assist you in finding the best product solution required in today’s construction projects. The presentation will also assist in understanding the major issues that arise with end lapping roof panels and the impact it has on the longevity and maintenance of the building.

CPD Competency Standards

The presentation will satisfy the following competencies from the National Standards of Competency for Architects 2021.

Project Initiation and Conceptual Design
PC26Be able to undertake site, cultural and contextual analysis as part of preliminary design research
Detailed Design and Construction Documentation
PC39Be able to integrate the material selection, structural and construction systems established in the conceptual design into the detailed design and documentation.
PC43Be able to collaborate with nominated contractors early in the documentation process to identify key construction methodology opportunities and constraints.
PC45Be able to nominate and integrate quality and performance standards with regard to selected materials, finishes, fittings, components and systems, considering the impact on Country and the environment, and the whole life carbon impact of the project. This includes integrating life cycle assessments and other expertise and advice from consultants.

Learning Outcomes

  • Critical issues for consideration when assessing commercial roofing options and the risks of inappropriate placement of roof penetrations.
  • Identify the differences between panel and single skin roof systems
  • How to apply knowledge of different systems and project-specific considerations to make appropriate roofing system selections
  • Identify the opportunities provided by matching structural steel placement and roof panel span performance
  • Outline the difference between expansion joint steps and end lapping and how new systems overcome the risks of end lapping

Attendees will be will be accredited with 1 formal Refuel CPD point and an AIA competency certificate upon successfully completing the assessment.
