The Challenges
In the northern beachside suburb Avalon Beach, one family was looking for a new outdoor entertainment area that would remain cool in the Australian heat.
The area originally featured a clear roof, intensifying the heat underneath and making it impossible to sit under and enjoy during the summer.
The family needed something that would provide adequate shelter, reflect the heat and work well as an additional design element to their home.
Jason Doughan from Patioland decided on Bondor’s Shademaster® (90mm panels) in the V140 profile for the outdoor patio.

The Solution
With the product decided, Jason and the Patioland team quickly went to work on building an entertainment area that would meet the family’s thermal requirements.
“We have used Shademaster on many projects as it has excellent thermal insulation properties,” Jason said.
“The new Shademaster has a 80 per cent gloss finish on top of it that reflects the heat, which was perfect for our client to give them a beautiful indoor outdoor area that’s cool enough to sit under.”
The Shademaster roofing, built with skylights to let in natural light while reflecting the heat, opened up the back of the family’s home and provided a lovely extended room.
“This also reduced the heat inside the house for our clients,” Jason said.
As a regular installer of Shademaster, the team at Patioland estimate they have around 30 jobs a month involving this panelling, with many more projects using Bondor’s panelling in future.
